Controversies by Shubman Gill
Shubman Gill, a rising star in Indian cricket, had his dismissal overturned after an altercation with the on-field umpire during Punjab’s Ranji Trophy match against Delhi on Friday that caused play to be suspended for about 10 minutes.
A player who challenges the umpire’s decision is breaking the “Code of Conduct” and match referee P Ranganathan may talk to them about it. He could be issued a warning or charged with a Level 1 Offense.
Yuvraj Singh argued that Shubman Gill, who was fined 100% of his match fee for questioning the umpire decision during a Ranji Trophy match between Punjab and Delhi, did not disrespect the official as was alleged.
Yuvraj Singh asserts that Shubman Gill has never been disrespectful to an umpire. Last season, Shubman Gill stirred much controversy by refusing to leave the pitch after receiving a penalty. He had a disagreement with the field umpire and prevailed in getting his dismissal overturned.
