Well, in this blog, I will be talking about content creation for beginners and more specifically content strategy (The number one thing you should be doing if you want to turn your hobby into a full-time gig).
Hello and welcome , I’m the content creation / content creator and marketing strategist. Our mission is to give you all the tools and knowledge you need to help you learn and earn, so you can start sharing your awesomeness with the world and start building your personal brand online. When we started, we had no idea how to reach out to our potential customers, or how to build trust in what we have to offer. Since we were an online based business running everything from our home. We didn’t have a lot of capital to invest in paid ads or a marketing team. But we didn’t get discouraged, and intuitively started creating content and posting it online. We created the Bytedepth. We also created our channel here on YouTube and started posting videos because we were terrified to show our faces. We didn’t really have a strategy and we would post content that we thought was useful. But it wasn’t until we started to understand how content creation works, and developed a content strategy, that we started growing our channel, creating content and services people really needed, and started consistently making money.
Every piece of content you post online should have a purpose or a goal behind it. And this is very important to understand. Posting content without having clear goals and not knowing who it is for is a huge waste of your time. It’s fun! But what if we can combine fun with purpose and tactics?
So let’s define what content creation / content creator is.
Content creation is everywhere these days, content is the blog article you read this morning or the Instagram or Youtube videos you watch before going to bed. Content is the photos or videos of people you follow on Instagram, and the how-to videos you watch on YouTube, or the podcast episode that left you inspired on your way to work this morning. You may be already creating content without knowing when you went on Instagram stories to share your morning latte or your workout routine. But, the way you can turn the content that you share into your most effective marketing tool is by having a content strategy. By the way, if you’re already content creation get help to grow.

what is a Content Creation / Content Creator strategy?
Content Creation strategy is the process of creating visual or written content in the form of video, podcasts, social media posts, blog articles, or any other type of media around a topic that’s appealing to your ideal audience and posting it on different platforms. Also, an important part of content strategy is learning how you can make your content more visible on the different platforms by understanding how they work. So I’m going to unpack this definition by talking about each point individually and giving you examples so you really understand how they work.
1. Know your Audience for content creation / content creator
Imagine posting videos and podcast episodes about complicated audio concepts and theories like signal flow and compression when in reality what people want is to learn how to record and edit in the most simple and time efficient. Our audience was not audio engineers or audio geeks. They are people like you and me with busy schedules, side hustles, who wanted to learn how to learn and earn that great. When we understood this, we started creating content for them and for their needs. We were helping them to earn, providing additional tips, and motivating them to start instead of overwhelming them with irrelevant information that will ultimately discourage them. So who’s your audience. Who are those people you want to serve? Who are the people who need your services or products to solve a problem or satisfy a need? Have you heard the saying: when you’re speaking to everyone you’re speaking to no one? This is so true! You want people watch your video and have a reaction to it because it feels like it was made exactly for them, because it’s answering a particular question or solving a problem.
So start describing this person in detail. Having your ideal audience or prospect buyer clear in your mind will allow you to create content that’s appealing specifically to them. It will also help you choose your platform, which we’ll talk about in a minute, and it will also help you grow on those platforms.
2. Choose your Platform for content creation / content creator
You have so many options to choose from. You can start a podcast, blog or YouTube channel, you can post videos, photos, or graphics on Instagram, Shorts, or Facebook. You can also create live stream content. It can get pretty overwhelming especially when you’re creating content solo. So here are the three things I want you to consider when choosing your platform: The learning curve, your bandwidth (or available time), and topic and audience. So let’s start with the first thing to consider, the learning curve. I want you to make an inventory of the skills you bring to the table.
Are you a good writer? Do you have experience in video or audio editing? Do you know how to use graphic design tools? Having some transferable skills may direct what type of content you want to create and also the platform you want to use. For example, in our case Studio, Steve has experience in audio and video production and I have experience in writing and research so we were able to start making videos for YouTube and writing and recording as well as writing blog articles for our website.
But if you don’t have these technical skills you can learn with us to create and edit your content or set some time aside to learn the skills. Learning these skills will go very slow at the beginning but you’ll get better and faster the more you practice. And the second thing to consider when choosing your platform is bandwidth. How much time do you have each week to dedicate to creating your content? For example, editing a video can take you from 2 to 4 hours or more depending on your length. Video can even take longer than that. So depending on how much time you have within your schedule to work on your content, you may choose to produce videos, or you may decide that short format videos for Instagram reels, YouTube shorts is a better choice. Maybe you’re not comfortable with making videos yet and you want to start creating audio content, in that case, a podcast is a better option.
3. How choosing your platform & Your topic and audience for Content Creator / Content Creation
Your topic and audience may also influence which platform you decide to use to publish your content. For example, if your content is educational and requires visuals, you may want to choose a platform like Instagram where you can post info cards, make demo videos, or tutorials. Or you can also choose to post long-format videos on YouTube. Your audience will also be a big deciding factor. For example: If your content is directed toward short video format like Reel may be the place to post your content instead of Facebook. And here’s a pro tip: All social media and video platforms have algorithms tracking user behaviors so they can suggest more content based on users interactions and responses.
So make sure you take the time to learn how each platform works and what kind of content performs well. For example, here on YouTube is important to add keywords to the titles of your videos and create thumbnails with specific elements to make them more attractive. Also, watch time is important on YouTube so your content must be interesting enough so people watch your videos until the end. Each platform has its kinks! You want to take the time to learn so you can use them to bring more eyes and ears to your content. But you may decide that you want to create content for multiple platforms and that’s okay as long as you can stay consistent. You may decide you want to maximize your content production and create a Shorts and video at the same time, or a video podcast. This is a great idea and there are different ways that you can go about doing both without adding too much extra time. Goals of Content Creation / Content Creator
Your goals are different depending on where you are as a content creation. If you’re a new content creator, meaning that you don’t have a big following or a big community, then the goal that you want to achieve with your content is awareness and getting the word out. What you want to do in this stage is to prioritize creating content around topics that people are searching for online. There are different tools that will help you find keywords that are frequently searched within your topic. This is called SEO. I’ll be Contact Us for more about SEO workflow.
Bringing up your creativity and your personality into your content to make it stand out is a must. There are many content creation out there but only one YOU. So make sure that when you’re creating your content to include a touch of weird to spice it up. We do it here at the Bytedepth. We’ve worn costumes, made videos, recorded Course. By being more you and creating content that reflects your personality, you don’t only stand out from the crowd, but you also have a lot of fun, which is also super important for content creators. But if you already have a following and people are responding to your content, meaning that you have validated your idea and topic, your goal is to educate your audience even further and establish your KLT( Know-Like- Trust factor).
So Maybe a long format type of content creation like a podcast or blog where you can discuss your topic in more detail is a good idea. Or maybe you want to take it up a notch and start going live for your community. And finally, if your goal is to generate sales and sign up more clients, you can offer free training, webinars, and product demonstrations. The idea behind creating this content is to get people to check you out to help them make a decision to buy your product or service.
